  51. SCSI drives can be setup to switch their motor off after a certain
  52. time of being not used and switch it on when needed again. There
  53. should be an option in your HD setup program for it. THIS IS NOT A
  54. FAILURE. Your first drive propably also would do it if it was 'told'
  55. to do so by the controller/driver. If it works savely enough, then it
  56. prolongs the lifetime of your drive, but I would set the time to
  57. shutdown to at least 5 minutes. In my case to HD didn't spin up fast
  58. enough for my controller, so the system crashed because the drive
  59. wasn't found from time to time. But normally (if your controller isn't
  60. as old as mine) it can be a nice feature, especially if you sleep im
  61. one room with your computer and do overnight calculations. In this
  62. case most times the HD is off reducing the noise level remarkably.
